Hey, all

We put out a Build today, and we'll be sending an email out about it later tonight. I've pasted the information from that email, below, to give you all some advanced information on what this Build contains as there is an important change relating to command-line actions.

We're pleased to announce that a new Build of SmarterMail is now available!

This week’s release, Build 9540 (February 13, 2026), focuses on a few standard and smaller security fixes and adds some additional protections based on our ongoing internal security testing and audits.

As with any new release, we recommend that all customers upgrade to this version as it ensures your server is fully protected with our latest improvements.

One major change in this release is how command-line actions are handled. Previously, commands were added directly within the SmarterMail interface. We have changed this behavior and now system administrators will reference a Script File Name for command-line actions. These scripts will be stored in an Assets folder within the Service directory of SmarterMail. That means that when an administrator upgrades SmarterMail to this release, SmarterMail will convert any existing command-line commands into files and place those in the Assets folder. The files will be named based off their location and purpose. For example, Command-Line Antivirus would be named "antivirus", a system event with a command-line action will be named the same as the display name of the event itself, etc.

This change affects a few different areas in SmarterMail, including:

- System Event Actions
- Volume Mounts
- Spool
- Command-Line Antivirus
- Automatic SSL Certificates
- ACME Certificates in SmarterMail HA

If it is necessary to downgrade SmarterMail, for whatever reason, system administrators can review the Administrative logs to find the command lines that were converted so that they can re-apply the settings. Alternatively, they can restore files from the most recent Archived Data folder as detailed in our Backup and Restore SmarterMail knowledge base article.
