Upgrading from SmarterMail Enterprise 100.0.8930.27108 (Jun 13, 2024) to SmarterMail Build 9518 (January 22, 2026)

To upgrade to the current version of SmarterMail is there any special instructions/tasks?

From 8930, there shouldn't be much.

Stop the MailService (mailservice.exe needs to fully disappear from Task Manager/Details)
Backup Configurations (recommended)
Uninstall current version.
Reboot Server
Install v9518 and you should be up and running.

There are some areas in the configuration you will want to double check but I can't for the life of me (with everything else going on) remember all what they were. Because we don't use the Auto Certificates feature, we had to re-verify the password to our shared SSL cert. And there were some minor issues making sure the IP assignments were correct because the newer builds add features - but otherwise it was up and running right away.

Standard procedure should be just fine, we encountered no issues going from 8664 to 9504 a few weeks ago for a client.

- Stop SM in services
- Wait for process to away in task manager
- Uninstall SM
- Reboot
- Install new SM

From what i remember, if possible, take a full snapshot of your system before doing the upgrades. Some changes were introduced along the way that make it impossible to roll back to a previous version.

As many have said, there hasn't really been any issues, but you can never be to careful.
