File storage generating public URLs which are unusable
Problem reported by AWRData - Yesterday at 12:22 PM

I have been trying to use the SmarterMail file storage to share files, but some files are generating unusable URLs with escape sequences or slashes.  Taking that URL and pasting it into a browser results in an error at the SmarterMail server.

I just upgraded to the latest release and am still having the problem.

Are they new sharing links or are these links that were made previously? And by "escape sequences or slashes" you're talking about these: \ ? (Just want to make sure.)

I just generated a couple of sharing links for previously private files and they all worked just fine, uploaded a few different file types as well and they all worked without generating any breaking characters. Are you doing this via the API or from webmail directly? Any odd language settings for the user?

These are new links created in the past six months in the webmail.  I thought it was a transient issue which would be fixed.  I am talking about URL-encoded escapes like %2b %2f and slash, not the backslash.  The user is using the default language.

I cannot provide exact links as affected files contain dangerous or sensitive information.  However, since the upgrade I had to restart the server and the links are, indeed, now working.

The most recent example was last week attempting to share a file with a class, but the generated URLs did not work.  Over the past couple of days I upgraded to the latest release, and the problem persisted after the upgrade.  I restarted, did not test, again, and forgot to post this thread until today.

So, good news, this does not appear to be a problem, anymore.  But, I will be watching you SmarterTools... always watching.
