Link to open an email based on UID
Question asked by bob xita - 7/4/2025 at 9:50 AM

Does the SmarterMail support URL query parameters?
I'm looking for a way to open an email directly based on its UID (practically a link to a specific email).

For example:
mail.example.com/interface/root#/email/?uid=12

Any link in an email should perform like any link on a webpage. So if you had query parameters on a link, when clicked within webmail it should go wherever the link specifies.

I think you misunderstood my question.
I'm not asking about embedding links in an email. I'm asking if it is possible to have a link that opens smartermail such that it shows a specific email.

For example the following made-up link, opens RoundCube email client and shows the email with UID of 2800

example.com/roundcube/?_task=mail&_uid=2800&_action=show

Yep, totally misunderstood that. Sorry. There's no way to get a link to an email from the web interface without opening the message in its own window and copying its URL.

There are some API calls that you could use, but you'd have to parse through the lists to get the UID of the specific message you want. I suppose it depends on what you were going to do whether using the API was a viable solution or not.
