Authorized chars in SmarterMail usernames
Question asked by Sébastien Riccio - 3/20/2025 at 6:20 PM

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out what chars are allowed by SM for mailboxes username, but I can't find any info in the documentation about this.
Is this documented somewhere ?

For example, manually checking, I see that adding a ! in the middle of the username is accepted (which I find strange...)

I am currently reviewing what our incoming gateway (not SM) what our SM instance accepts and what our customer control panel accepts as e-mail address local-part, to be sure it is coherent and safe.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards,
