Build 9084 - Can't select text to copy it in different sections of SmarterMail UI

Hello,

Since latest update, build 9084, I can't select any text to copy to the clipboard anymore.

For example in the Troubleshooting / view logs / search results:


Also noticed this in the "Spool / View HDR" on a spool item, I can't copy text from the HDR view anymore....

Am I the only one with this issue with build 9084 ?

This appears to be a bug in the latest Edge update Version 131.0.2903.51 (Mac & PC)

In webmail text will not visibly highlight when selected, but can still be copy/pasted even though you cannot see what is highlighted. 

New message windows do not have this issue, but from what I've seen any other tab/window in webmail has the problem when trying to highlight to copy.

No issue in Chrome Version 131.0.6778.70. 

Not sure if there is anything ST can do to fix this but I do have a ticket opened with them.

Hmmm I tried with Brave (based on Chromium). Same results.

I thought it was the same with Firefox, but it works correctly with it.

Also for me. Up to v130 of Edge and Chrome my users were able to select a text (e.g. for copy and paste it in another app) from the body of an email using the SmarterMail web UI.
From v131, no more can do text selection.
@ChrisI've this issue also in Chrome Version 131.0.6778.70. 

Also on SM build 9056, so I think it's not an update issue on the SM side.

This is not a SM issue. It is a Chrome issue. And yes, for those that do not know, the iterations of browsers based upon the Chrome engine may have different results that using Chrome browser directly.

You can fix Chrome by going into Settings > Reset Settings
Clear ALL cache and cookies
Close Chrome and restart

This does not work for Edge.

Suggested fix didn't resolve the issue here.

I've updated to the latest stable build Chrome, Firefox and Edge:
- Edge 131.0.2903.51 HAS the text selection issue in SM UI
- Chrome 131.0.6778.70 HAS the text selection issue in SM UI
- Firefox 132.0.2 HASN'T the text selection issue in SM UI

SM updated to b9088.

It is possible that the SM UI has a CSS to make selections transparent, as reported in that thread by the Google Product Designer giliard?

I am able to replicate this on Edge on Windows, but my Macbook has no trouble even in Chrome. I'm going to escalate a task to have development look into this to see if there is anything we can do on our end.

Chris' suggestion worked for Chrome Version 131.0.6778.70 (Official Build) (64-bit)

same thing didn't work for edge Version 131.0.2903.51 (Official build) (64-bit)

This is happening on Build 9021 (Sep 12, 2024) as well it' not smartermail but an chrome/edge update

I used a removal tool and removed MS Edge/Webview and installed an older version of MS Edge and Webview and the problem persists- https://github.com/ShadowWhisperer/Remove-MS-Edge

I confirm that the issue is resolved on Google Chrome 131.0.6778.86
Now waiting for including same solution on MS Edge.

Microsoft Edge Released an update that fixed the issue.
