Testing SmarterMail 9056... --> Issues with MAPI --> downgraded to 8930 again.
Idea shared by Gabriele Maoret - SERSIS - 10/22/2024 at 7:46 AM
Proposed
On 2 separate servers with ~50 users each... So far it's been 24 hours without any complaints...

...fingers crossed...

Hi Grabriele,

Thanks for the feedback.

Are you using MAPI Accounts ?

Thanks.

We are seeing 2 issues we are trying to determine if it's SM or something else.
1) randomly while typing emails, the cursor jumps around the editor in web mail. We found a ticket from a while back stating that it was frolo editor? but haven't seen anything since on the topic.
2) during online meetings the streams would stop transmitting (but everyone stayed logged in) and eventually it came back up after one of the users refreshed their browser. Users internet on all ends was fine during the outage, but we are monitoring and will submit a ticket if we can determine 100% it's an SM issue.

We have upgraded to 9056 as well running MAPI for all users.

Only issues is syncing mail to EAS clients on Android and favorite folders dissappearing from outlook.

Hi all!
I'm not using Online meeting, so I cannot confirm your issue...
Also, every users here are using MS Outook and not the webmail...

I'll keep you informed if I'll see issue on EAS and/or MS Outlook favorites...

We see the issue when more than 2 MAPI accounts are present in favorites. IMAP is affected also.

When restarting outlook then one of the accounts go away and have to be added manually again. It does so everytime outlook is restarted.

Hey Guys,

This Outlook issue you're describing is a bug within Outlook, not SmarterMail itself. We were able to replicate this behavior with our Microsoft Exchange server.

Kind Regards,

Unfortunately even with the 9056 release after a few days of testing I have collected several complaints from different users (5-6 users out of just over 100), ALL who use MS Outlook MAPI in various versions (2016, 2016, 2021 and 365, both 32bit and 64bit, all in ITALIAN).

The complaints (all verified by me) are of different types:
- New emails do not arrive (or arrive late)
- If I move an email from one folder to another in MS Outlook, the change is not reflected in the webmail (and it never synchronizes)
- ms outlook doesn't send mail

I tried to do the following actions on the incriminated users:
- resync of the protocols from Admin Panel
- resync of the protocols from WebMail
- reconfiguring Outlook with a new profile
- total deletion of MS Outlook data and reconfiguration (following your guide)
- installed MS Outlook on a different PC (also trying to change the version of MS Outlook)

None of these actions has ever solved the problem.

At this point, also given the (VERY RIGHT) impatience of the customers, I downgraded from the 9056 to the 8930 (which worked very well)...

IMMEDIATELY every problem was solved!!!

It's frustrating, but I'll have to stay with the 8930...

I havent reached the point of impatience yet since we havent had any complaints yet.

But we see significant slower email handling and some issues with danish lettering.

So on the brink of hitting the downgrade button again.

We will stay on SM 8930!

Thanks Gabriele for your feedback

luckily I only provide imap/pop/smtp services

No problem here with the 9056, except for an intermittent problem with xmpp but that also happened to me on the 8930

I can confirm laggy behavor vor all releases after 8930, On webmail and Mapi if i downgrade they dissapear.

ALso it seems that the Mapi has problems with the adressbook sometimes it trows error that it was not able to reach the exchange server ..

I can also confirm the problem with the incorrect transfer of read messages. I also have the feeling that it has become even worse with Build 9056.

Here too, the problem is that the read status between MAPI and EAS is not synchronized correctly.

In addition, since Build 8965, when sending messages, the error message appears from time to time that a connection to the server cannot be established. Then the message has to be closed and a new message opened, then it usually works. Outlook does not have to be restarted.

We had to downgrade as well.  Major memory leak. 8930 fixed the issue.

@Daniel -- thanks for submitting a ticket on this. We'll look into it as this doesn't appear to be a widespread issue. As Oliver is having a simliar issue, I'll add this thread to the ticket. Oliver, we may reach out to you as well.

@jason -- I don't see a ticket from you regarding a memory leak, and we haven't had any reports of any memory leaks on any recent Builds. So I'll go ahead and start a ticket for you on it so we can look into it with you.
