Whitelist "SMTP Auth Bypass" also disables message sniffer

Hello,

It seems that in Settings-> security -> Whitelist "SMTP Auth Bypass" also disables message sniffer
the helppage does not indicate this:
  • SMTP Auth Bypass - For whitelists only, whether SMTP Authentication is bypassed for the entry.
My problem is as follows: i have a mailgateway (Proxmox mail gateway) who sends incoming mails to smartermail, as there are also other servers using our domain i have to select the "SMTP Auth Bypass" else i will get "550 Authentication is required for relay" fails but this seems to also skipt "message sniffing" (at least in this case i have 0 mails passed in the reporting page).

How do other people handle this problem ? No mailgateway in front ?

The problem is that even the mailgateway sends mails to internal (for spam reports). I dont get the point why SMTP auth Bypass also skipts spam check (while there is even an option to seperatly disable spam checks)
