Emails from whitelisted IPs get virus quarantined
Problem reported by AWRData - 7/24/2024 at 1:02 AM
Not A Problem
I have a customer using a third-party spam filter system.  I have whitelisted the system, but SM still traps emails from American Express and a couple of banks in the virus quarantine.  I am getting complaints about this and I would like to know what else I need to do.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you're having issues. The whitelist is not intended to bypass antivirus scanning. This article may help you though.

Let me know if this helps!

Hello,

To add to what Zach shared above. SmarterMail has no options to whitelist or skip any AntiVirus scans. To do this you will need to work with the AntiVirus itself.
  • ClamD
  • Windows Defender
  • etc...
The Link Zach posted is for CalmD. For Windows Defender you could use this link ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-811816c0-4dfd-af4a-47e4-c301afe13b26 ) to add an exclusion. If you feel that they are false positives ( or false negatives ) you can get them reported to the respective company.

For Windows Defender you could use this

For ClamD

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem and just turned off "Scan Messages Without Attachments" under Settings -> Antivirus and that stopped all issues that you're describing.
