We are using 8888, it seems to be stable

Forgive me for dredging up an old version, but 15.7.6970 (Enterprise version in my case; this is the final version of SM15) could not be any more stable. It is certainly lacking features of later versions, that's understood. But frankly, it's been bulletproof.

I mean like set-and-forget. Some operational quirks but it just runs and runs really well as a "legacy" email server, with decent webmail.

8888 is the last one not incorporating issues with IMAP/MAPI.

All the rest has issues dating back from the update from 8888 and on.

I'm using 8930 (stable, not beta), and I'm not seeing more issues than  8888....

We have reported verified issues with both IMAP and MAPI on Android devices. They are working hard to get a release out solving these issues that has persisted from 8895 onwards.

Hi Brian!

On Android I use EAS, so I think this is the reason beause I don't know this issue... Thanks for the info!

Brian,

I'm not sure what you are referring to.  You submitted a MAPI issue which Ray mentioned was resolved in the BETA.  There is no IMAP ticket that I'm aware of.  I do see you had an upgrade issue that Kyle and Ray helped you with.

This one still applies. I have a video showing the issues with favorite folders dissappearing and it goes for MAPI folders as well in build 8930.

Support stated that is was an Exchange issue but its not happening on O365 accounts. Tried multiple client accounts and it didnt dissappear.

The ticket you provided is for IMAP and one fix was released and the other is an Outlook issue, not something we can control.

The MAPI issue is resolved in the BETA.

There is a problem with the 8923

Pop retrival automatic doesn't work.

Via ticket they confirmed the bug, but also told me that it will be resolved in a subsequent beta.
So it is not expected to be fixed in production versions.

The effect is that customers who have set up automatic pop retrival will not receive mail from the pop account they have set up.
It works manually

The next production version is the BETA and it will be released on July 10th.

Be sure to test and provide feedback so we can address any concerns you may have before release.  It's been a very stable BETA for both Windows and Linux.

Hi TIM!

So, presumably, on July 10th the beta testing will end and the STABLE versions will be released for both Windows and Linux?

Will there be other releases (stable or beta) before July 10th, or not?

...of course I understand very well that the date could slip a little if there were any last minute corrections to be made...

Hello guys!
It's been a while, what is currently the most stable version?
Is it still the 8930 the best version?

Hi Stefano!

At the moment we are still stuck at 8930, because in the newer releases unfortunately there is a problem (also on the latest 9119) that prevents us from using MS Outlook MAPI correctly with some users.

SmarterTools (in a ticket that we have submitted to them) has confirmed that they have replicated the problem in their test and development environment (so it is not just my problem ... It is general ...), and SmarterTools is actively working to solve it.

So let's keep our fingers crossed for a stable release in 2025

Hi Gabriele.

What issue are you seeing with 9119? We currently run  it and havent seen anything besides issues with headers in emails when using more than one MAPI account...

Hi Brian!

The problem we encounter after upgrading from version 8930 to any of the new "POST LINUX" versions (even though we still use Windows...) including the latest 9119, concerns MS Outlook (2016, 2019, 2021, 365...) connected via MAPI.

In practice some users (actually a few, but some of them are important and therefore we cannot update...) encounter various synchronization problems (some cannot move mail from one folder to another, others cannot send mail and others still have MS Outlook completely blocked...) that seem to be related to this type of error (in the MAPI LOG):

<<<<<<<<<<<<<

[2024.12.16] 08:54:49.859 [{1CB91AB4-267E-4F25-9978-2CF0D61531BB}:8] [giXXX.zaXXX@miXXXXXX.it] Exception: System.OverflowException: Value was either too large or too small for a UInt16.

[2024.12.16] 08:55:00.760 Exception: giXXXX.zXXX@miXXXX.it RopResponseBuffer CachedPayloadBytes.Count is greater than Int16 [71818]

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This happens with ALL versions after 8930, and always with the same users.

The problem is solved immediately (the errors disappear and all MS Outlooks start working correctly again) as soon as we downgrade and return to the 8930 release.

In the ticket that I still have open, Jereming Chen (of SmarterTools), after working a bit on one of our on premise servers, confirmed that he was able to replicate the error and that he had collected all the data necessary for SmarterTools to solve the problem...

Let's hope so...

Yes, but that problem was solved after a few days with a new release (I don't remember which one it was) and with a RESYNC of the users, and then we didn't see it again for a long time...

The new error that appeared with the versions after 8930 seems different, because the LOG reports only the 2 lines that I copied in the previous answer, and not all the errors that are in that old 2021 POST...
