Email events for aliases (user and domain)

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to move about 50 users to SM (build 8846). During migration some of the users will be changing address (i.e. name.surname@domain.com to surname.name@domain.com) and others will be changing domain (i.e. address@domain.net to address@domain.com), so I'm creating user aliases for the first scenario and a domain alias for the second.
I'd like to create events that send an email to senders when they send emails to the alias (old address) to inform them about the new address, but the email event "mesage received" with condition "To address" equal to the alias address does not seem to work (I presume because the recipient address is parsed before entering the spool and "converted" to the actual address).
Has anyone some suggestions to achieve the behaviour I'm expecting?
Thanks

That's a great idea!

An update, just tried to setup a system event for that, with condition "To address" equal to the user alias, but it doesn't even get triggered.
