New Version (Released) over Beta's
Problem reported by John Marx - 12/16/2023 at 8:33 AM

Just a piece of information. I have been running the beta with zero issues. I went from the December 5th to the latest version. So, I did miss a few. It took three uninstall / install to fix. The following were my fixes as I was getting a "500 error." Everything now is working perfect and definitely a LOT faster.

  • Uninstalled
  • Deleted the site in IIS
  • Renamed MRS to MRS_Old (found on another post)
  • Rebooted
  • Installed and created the new site with the install process
I haven't gotten the SSL creation to work but will be investigating that but I have bene doing the Let's Encrypt using Let's Encrypt so I am figuring that is part of the issue. Being it's working I want to let it go a few days before digging into that as I don't want to put too many new things at the same time.

Thanks to the SmarterTools team for this update as it looks like a solid winner.

I think we are going to let SmarterMail create a new IIS site, when we upgrade.

What are the downfalls of renaming the MRS folder?

There's no downfall renaming the MRS folder that I have found. The contents of the folder appear the same, including the security setting properties.

I've been now going through everything the past several hours and everything is working wonderful. In fact, I've had two customers call saying they appreciate the new faster speeds. It's always nice to hear positives rather than negatives in the IT space.

I wouldnt dare yet..... 8664 running smoolthly and we need some quietness on the mail delivery front to retain the customers.

More bloopers and they are gone.

We upgraded as certain items that were fixed clients were asking for. Otherwise, we planned on waiting until January. Client complaints were the reason we needed to speed up the process. We are happy with what we are seeing. Getting around is the same, speeds are faster, and we're looking at how we can take advantage of the new capabilities.

We must wait, too. Christmas is next week. I want our team to stay home with family and off their laptops. January is better.
