Automated forwarding is not allowed

I have a couple of email addresses forwarded from a postmaster account so I'm notified of important emails that come thru that account. One arrived today but I only knew because I received an email notifying me that it could not forward it. A content filter contains a forward to 'email@domain.com'.  Automated forwarding is not allowed.

Is this something new? Did I fail to set something up correctly? Forwarding is an option or it wouldn't have tried.

Nothing new.  We are using that and we are on Build 8451

Sorry but I don't quite understand. You are using forwarding and it is working right? I expected it to work but was surprised by the error message. I'm using Build 8580 so perhaps it is related to the version?

Well I solved it another way and I don't need to forward anymore.

Yes, we are using automatic forwarding but we have certain domains blocked to be forwarded too.
we dont allow automatic forward to gmail, yahoo, etc,
In the settings tab for the server under delivery limits we have 8 we are not allowing.

You may also need to enable Automated Forwarding for the domain in question. That is done from a system administrator login by clicking on the domain from the Manage page then modifying the toggle on the Features card.

A quick follow-up in case anyone else encounters it. I just checked and my domain actually has automated forwarding set on. It turned out that there is an identical setting on each account and the postmaster account had it turned off. We're good now.
