Add Eyeballs to Email Folders 😁

The Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes folders all have eye icons next to them. But Email folders (Inbox, Drafts, Deleted Items, etc.) do not have eye icons!?!?!

So need to add eyeballs to all Email folders. Then when I want to see what's in Sent Items, I just click the eyeballs next to Inbox, Drafts, Deleted Items, Junk Email, Save, etc. to turn them all off. Then it will work just like Contacts where I have to turn off the eyeballs next to Friends, Family, Coworkers, and Customers in order to see Vendors.

And say I want to rename "Junk Email" to "Spam" all I have to do is click the folder name to bring up the rename dialog box. Don't show me the messages in Junk Email when I click the folder. 😁

Obviously the above is a jest to highlight how silly the eyeballs are and why they should be eliminated on Calendars, Contacts, Task, and Notes. Make them work like email folders so people won't get confused.

VOTE FOR THIS IDEA:
When you click a Contacts folder or Calendar folder, show what's in the folder like every other email system.

I agree with Kevin: the eyeball is an anti-intuitive tool and should be eliminated in favor to a more standard way to work with Contacts, Calendars, Notes, ecc... (e.g.: make them work like are in Outlook or EM Client)

March bump. Not trying to be mean, just trying to bring some attention to this UI inconsistency that confuses users. Maybe explain why it's done this way?

Gabriele, thanks for the support!

People must not use the web UI very much. If they did, they would see how awkward it is to create/manage their contacts using folders. When you click a folder, it should show you the contacts in that folder (just like how email folders work).

Maybe someone could share the benefits of using eyeballs?

April bump.

Does anyone use Contacts in webmail?  The folders don't work as you would expect, not at all intuitive. It's because 1) it's totally opposite of how email folders work and 2) these eye icons are not used in any other email programs.

Suggesting that it be changed to work like Email folders. Quick fix:
  • Click on a folder and it shows you the contacts in that folder.
  • Change the eye icon to a gear icon to launch the folder properties window.

I don't think anyone uses Contacts or Calendar in webmail or else there would be 100 votes for this.

We're not going to be doing eyeballs on email folders but I think you will like how many of the other sections will feel similar to other clients and our email section.  This will be introduced in our .NET Core release.

Tim, that's great news!  Clicking on a contacts or calendar folder to display what's in that folder will be intuitive and consistent with how most things work.

Do you have a rough idea of when the .NET Core release will be available in beta?
