Too Many Notifications for low disk space
Problem reported by kevind - 1/12/2023 at 1:49 PM

Seeing over 25 notifications per day (in admin interface) for low disk space.  Any way to reduce that or only show 2 per day?  Having that many makes it hard to see other critical notifications. Build 8251.

Thanks.

Hi Kevin,

Please edit the event and look at the Frequency of the action. What is it set to? If you change it to 12 hours or 24 hours, it should reduce the notifications to once or twice a day.

I looked and didn't see any setting for Frequency of Action:

Hi Kevind, it'll be in the Actions area. If you click on that Show a notification card you should see a frequency listed here.

Kyle,

1) Shouldn't the Frequency should be listed right here on the Event screen? Or even on the Condition card to tell how often to check the condition? It doesn't seem very intuitive to click on "Show a notification" to change the frequency.

2) I was able to change the frequency in the Action card, then Save it.  But when I clicked Save on the Event screen, it popped up:  Cannot modify built in events

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the details. What is the current frequency set to?

Hi Andrea, it's currently set to "None" but looks like it does it every hour as I received 72 notifications over the last 3 days.  5 or 6 would have been fine.  :)

Again I'm wondering why the Frequency is under the "Action" and not under "General" or "Condition" as it seems like the frequency would be related to when the event is triggered, not what to do after the event occurs.

Thanks and have a good week!

Hi Kevin,

As far as I understand, the frequency is related to the action itself. For example, you could receive an email once a day, but a notification twice a day. In addition, some event types will be triggered by a specific action, which can't be put on a frequency.

That said, the event in my test server shows a frequency time of 24 hours. I will see if this was a recent change in the BETA, or if I can replicate the event having a Frequency of None. We'll see what can be done about improving how often these notices are received.

OK, great. So maybe change this thread to an idea or under consideration as it would be nice to be able to change the frequency.  Or just change the default so it does this check a couple times/day.

In the meantime, we added more disk space, so no longer receiving 24 notifications per day that it's low on space. 😉
