Chat function and resource usage

Good day,

It would be useful to reduce the impact the Chat function has on load. Can anyone suggest what tools to use in this regard.
https://support.pennyware.net/ChatLink.ashx?config=2&id=stlivechat13 takes up a fair amount of resournce on page load of www.pennyware.net  Essentially I would like to get size down with GZIP or similar.
