URGENT: SmarterMail 8055 and Outlook MAPI (tested with Outllok 2016 and Outlook 365): Outlook does not warn the user that the sender has requested a read receipt
Problem reported by Gabriele Maoret - SERSIS - 2/11/2022 at 1:50 AM
Being Fixed
Scenario: SmarterMail 8055 and Outlook MAPI client (actualli tested with Outllok 2016 and Outlook 365 latest MS Updates) - several customers are reporting it.

when an e-mail arrives whose sender has requested a read confirmation, the relative request is not displayed to the user by Outlook.

Tested myself and i can confirm it simply sending an e-mail to my accounts on the my Outlook 2016:
 - on my MS Exchange account (hosted by OVH) it works (the read confirmation POP-UP request is there)
 - on my SmarterMail account it doesn't work (no read confirmation POP-UP)

P.S.: ticket opened

I would like to remind you that this problem IS NOT SOLVED (so please change the TAG to this post and put it as "KNOWN") ...

We have been waiting for a solution for more than 5 months now: the problem is BLOCKING and many customers are hammering at us with complaints!

@Ron Raley : Yes, the majority of the people here in Italy use it...

I don't know how it works in other countries, but I also see FOR ME many international emails I get from our customers and partners use it ...

However this is a known feature to work in every mail system and MUST work in SmarterMail too!

I have that fully disabled in all email clients I use… never once in my life sent a read receipt. Odd that this feature is used today.

Hi echoDreamz!

Sorry, but I think that the fact that YOU don't use it doesn't change the fact that a LOT of customers are using it and are complaining to us that it doesn't work ...

As this is an expected feature and it works flawlessly on ALL SmarterMail competitors (GMAIL, MS 365, Zimbra, MS Exchange, MailEnable, Kerio Connect just to name a few ...) then it needs to work with SmarterMail as well...

Otherwise in the features of SmarterMail must be added "does not support Outlook read receipt"

At the moment I am not aware that this is a deprecated function...

I agree that it should be working, I was just stating that I dont know anyone (including myself) that uses this feature and didnt realize it was even being used.

We absolutely have clients using read receipts, especially in cases where important or regulatory information is being sent, and verifying the user received it is a key element in preventing lawsuits or being dinged for compliance violations.  (healthcare, real estate, title companies, etc.)
