add account to login failed
Idea shared by Sérgio Rocha - 2/3/2022 at 7:34 AM
Proposed
Hi,

From time to time we have clients share the same public IP and someone with wrong password break the IDS limit and get blocked IP.

In this situations we help customers find the account with bad password configuration, seaching the log file for the public IP and the failed expression, but the POP log, the login failed line dont came with the username that fail password. In this case filtering the log file with regular expression it not direct.

I will like to propose that in the same line where software write the Login Failed add the account used.
If not possible, at this time, make the smartermails interface give more information about blocks at least add the account name in the same line will be a simple change that will help us alot.

Regards

I know this is off topic, but I just need help logging in.  We just reset our credentials and need to know what to do next.  How do we log in?  Where do we go? Can you help?

"Then you should be able to log in to SmarterStats using "admin" (no quotes) for the username, password and site ID.

Open Windows Explorer (My Computer).
Navigate to \MRS\App_Data\Config (Default location C:\Program Files\SmarterTools\SmarterStats\ or to C:\Program Files (x86) on 64-bit operating systems.
Back up a copy of the AppConfig.xml file.
Right-click on AppConfig.xml and choose Open With -> and select any text editor you have installed. (E.g., Notepad)
Delete the following three lines:
<SmarterStatsAdmin>...</SmarterStatsAdmin>
<SmarterStatsPassword>...</SmarterStatsPassword>
<SmarterStatsPasswordEnc>...</SmarterStatsPasswordEnc>
NOTE: For these changes to take effect, you will need to stop and start the SmarterStats website.

Then you should be able to log in to SmarterStats using "admin" (no quotes) for the username, password and site ID.

Thank you!

Leonard - Please submit these on their own posts so we can assist you efficiently. :-) In the meantime, you can log on to SmarterStats via the web interface. By default that is accessed from the server like this:

However, the bindings/port numbers you have set up may differ depending on what post-configuration you've completed. The best way to check for the appropriate binding is to open up IIS in Windows and check to see which hostnames/ports are associated with the SmarterStats IIS site. I hope that helps!
