What is the latest version number for SM 15.7 and SM 16.x

The latest builds would be 15.7.6970 and 16.3.6989.

You can look at their legacy versions as well. 

SmarterMail 15.x

SmarterMail 16.x

Thanks @Larry Duran and @Tony Scholz

I have read that version 16.3 has a different file structure compared to 15.7
Are there more such changes in newer versions?
In other words. Is it possible to upgrade from 15.7 directly to the latest build 8025 or does it have to be done in stages?

From 15.7 you should be able to upgrade to 8025. There’s a built in conversion process that upgrades the older file formats to the newer ones. You can view the following KB article for more information, https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a3443/upgrading-smartermail-domain-conversion.aspx.
