Chat web connection
Problem reported by Omar Escalante - 12/2/2021 at 6:38 AM

Hello,

I found CHAT (XMMP) is not working normally. Ports 5222 & 5223 are open and bounded.

  • If I use mail client (em client) I can connect using 5222 or 5223 ports, and get some users using em client too.
  • But if I try to use chat by webmail, the msg is : "Attempting to coonect to server" . But, as many users works by webmail, they are off line
I was digging, but everything is simple and configured as allways.

Hello Omar. XMPP leverages dynamic ports to facilitate the chat connection once the initial connection completes, and when used in webmail, relies on a SignalR connection between your web browser and the server itself. So, a lot of the time we see security software, web application firewalls, antivirus applications, etc affecting this. Can you try opening your browser's Developer Tools>Console area, then log in to SmarterMail and attempt a chat for me? What do you see in the console there?

I can't find what you indicate me.
I am using OPERA as default browser. I canceled VPN and others security, and the situation is the same.

Then, I tried others, even with Linux (Debian):

W10 - MS EDGE

W10 -  CHROME

W10 -  FIREFOX

W10 -  BRAVE

DEBIAN - FIREFOX (Virtual machine on the same PC)

And... the fany side is... when I close the main browser windows, the chat form change my status into green

Hi Omar,

I've noticed that the web-based chat sometimes get's stuck on "Attempting to connect to server" but if you click on your name at the top of the list and choose "Available" from the menu it will successfully load. Give that a try and see if it helps.
