Hello,
While troubleshooting some issues for a customer, I've discovered that when I export, from the webmail, the user's contacts and then I re-import them to another user, the contacts birthday date has the day and month value swapped.
After doing a bunch of tests I suspect that the swapping happens when doing the export:
For example a contact has 04.06.1998 (DD.MM.YYYY), the resulting vcard contains 19980406 (YYYYDDMM format) when it should contain 19980604 (YYYYMMDD which is the default format for dates in vcards).
Yet I'm not sure if this affects all installations of SmarterMail or maybe only installations that are running on Non-US locales.
It would be nice that someone with a US locale and someone with non-US locale to do a test to confirm the issue.
1) Create a contact with this birthdate 4 june 1998 and export it with vcard.
2) Post the resulted vcard file
3) optionally delete the contact and re-import it to see if the birthdate swapped.
Thanks a lot for your help. I have a bad feeling that a lot of users that used vCard exports have all their contacts DOB messed...
I did some test creating the same contact on Gmail and exporting it to vCard and the date is correct... only when exporting from SM cause trouble...
Also it only seems to happen when the swapped date result in a valid date. For example 0406 0604 both are valids. But 0424 2404 only one is valid so it doesn't swap it....
Kind regards,
Sébastien
