Allow an administrator to add a tag such as [External] and let clients apply rules
Idea shared by Patrick Mattson - 7/20/2021 at 5:27 AM
Proposed
I have been trying to think of ways to help my clients secure their email by reducing potential phishing attacks. I know this is not a perfect security solution, but I am up against other mail providing services that can add this.

I want to be able to add something like [External] to a subject line from anything not matching the domain, this does work. What does not work is my rules I have set up as a client. I have rules set up to move incoming emails to different folders.

I would like to have both, if someone can explain the logic on why you can only run one set of rules I would love to know what it is.

Even Gmail now includes this, when I open an email, it has a yellow tag saying External.

Hi Patrick, i use the same rule by adding [external] to email subject line from anything not matching domain, but i noticed this doesnt work correctly, i had few emails which i received the return-path and received-from dont match the domain but it didnt add [external] to the email subject. so you should be careful with this, i'm currently on previous version 16.xxx and not sure if version 17 have same issue, but better not depend on the feature 100%.

Best regards,

Adding another comment to ask if this has been addressed. I have customers asking if we can do this because of Cyber Insurance. The customer asking is using Office 365 so it is not a problem.
