MAPI Outlook not showing Display Name only email address

It is possible I am missing something.

I have MAPI working with regards to autodiscover, syncronization, etc.  So far so good!  The account sets up and works.

However, with a MAPI account in Outlook, you are unable to edit the "Display Name" and it is defaulting to just the email address.  I have set the Display Name in the SmarterMail account screen.

Email that is sent from Outlook arrives with just the email address as the from.

I second that. 

Also, In Samsung Mail (Android) using EAS it defaults to the "Display Name", and if thats reset then works. However in Outlook for Android it doesnt even use the Display Name, nor is it editable anywhere in the mobile app.

Outlook doesn't use the smarter mail "display name" that's how it works in android EAS. Bummer not Outlook/mapi

Hey all, this should be working with the display name that's defined in the user's profile in webmail.  I'll create a bug report for it.  Thanks for letting us know.

I have tried it with Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 and with both versions it does not use the Display Name at all.  When you send mail from a MAPI account, the FROM only contains the email address.

Correct, that's why I created a bug report to get it fixed.  It should honor the display name along with the email address for the sender and for the recipients.

Now the From address will only show the email address when you're composing your message but when it gets sent out it should be sent as the display name and email address.  So showing just the email address when you're composing the email is fine, but once the email is sent it should have both from and display name.

It's not in the Release Notes for the latest Build. Looks like it's still being worked on.

Hi all, 

This issue has been addressed and will be included in the next release of SmarterMail. In Outlook, when you use the address book to select a GAL user, the message will include both their display name and address.
