Not A Problem
In EM Client (v. 8) connected via EWS there's and error about public folders:

Based on some internal testing, it appears that the error icon and the message in the reading pane are unrelated. The error icon is an indication of the problem with loading the GAL, while the message in the reading pane is indicating that there are no public email folders.

Since this is not a separate problem, I'm going to mark this thread as Not a Problem.
