SmarterTracker failover Server with separate SQL Express DB

Hi We have installed SmarterTrack with SQL Express.

When I go through the Admin Guide I can see that the Failover Server is always connected to the DB.
Is there a possibility to have a Failover Server that has its own SQL Express DB? I would use a script to export and import the DB from the Active SmarterTrack to the Failover Server.
Then when my Active Server goes down so the Failover would also not have access to the DB. This means It's useless.
We have following license "SmarterTrack Enterprise with Failover"

When I export the SQL and import the SQL DB I can see that Smarter Track is disabled because we have 7 Agents and only 1 is free. During the Setup I did not activated the Failover because I was not shure what happens with the Active SmartTrack Server.

Where does SmarterTrack stores the License informations? Can be two 2 Servers be online with replicated SQL DBs?

We have a Netscaler as Loadbalancer where I can forward the request to the active server until its not reachable, then the traffic will be routed to the failover server.

At least the Support Portal would be accessible with a small difference when changes where done between the replications.

Hi Marcel,

What you're looking to do may be possible, but I'm not sure if it's something that has been tested. The configuration in our Failover documentation is the only tested and supported configuration. On the licensing end, only one SmarterTrack installation may be activated with the license key at a time, creating an active/passive relationship between the primary and standby installations. This may be what prevents your suggested setup, as you won't be able to use one license key to keep both installations activated indefinitely.

(The licensing information is stored in the license.json file. The default file path is c:\Program Files (x86)\SmarterTools\SmarterTrack\MRS\App_Data\Config\license.json.)
