[Beta] User reporting IMAP Outlook error - The UID of a message changed unexpectedly
Problem reported by echoDreamz - 1/27/2020 at 6:38 PM

We have a client who has had constant IMAP issues with the MAPI builds, since installing the 7327 build, he is now getting an error stating...

The UID of a message changed unexpectedly. This typically indicates a server bug. Your program may not function properly after this.
Client is running Outlook 2007. I had them completely remove the account and add it back to Outlook. They did with success and stated...

Deleted the account in outlook. restarted Outlook, created a new account (different name than before). I let Outlook auto configure the new account. The autoconfig worked great, all 3500 messages were downloaded. I deleted some old messages from 2018 and they were marked as deleted in outlook.

The first sync generated the error message (uid error)and did not remove the deleted messages. Subsequent syncs do not remove deleted messages. And if purge the messages from Outlook they are not deleted either.

We see this from time to time in Office 2007. We tell the user to just keep clicking OK. The message eventually goes away. ha. I reported it some time ago in https://portal.smartertools.com/community/a90217/anyone-getting-imap-errors-with-15_7_6572-and-large-imap-mailbox.aspx  but never got a reply.

Seems related to mailbox size and I'm guessing Server so often does X with larger boxes. Reindexing?

We have the same issues with some users and we already asked them multiple times to remove/readd their account from Outlook.

Of course they say they only have this problem with us and have other accounts on the same Outlook but on other provider and have no issues with them, so I don't know what we can answer.

Is there a permanent solution for this?

(edit: we're still running the non-MAPI version for production)

Hi Sebastien, I could say that SM Production Ready BETA with MAPI turned off is THE production release you should use...

My two cents...

We have the same issue and we don't have the license for MAPI. So I don't think it is related to that.
