Is Maintenance and Support Required?
                   
While not “required” for a product to work, it is strongly suggested you keep Maintenance and Support active due to its many benefits: unlimited support of the product, free access to any and all updates and new features that are released for the product, and the ability to use any purchased add-on such as MAPI/EWS, EAS, Cyren and MessageSniffer products. Therefore, while our products will continue to work without Maintenance and Support, it IS required if you plan on using any add-on. This is because the agreements in place with our vendors dictate that the licensing for any SmarterTools product is active and updated to the most recent release.

Do i translate this right to my language, that i have to buy am SmarterMail Upgrade Protection to keep the EAS running? I have ordered a EAS Subscription.

Yes. You have to have upgrade protection to keep using EAS, Cyren, Message Sniffer etc.

I have extended my Exchange ActiveSync licences for a year and why i need an Upgrade Protection for SmarterMail? I can not understand this.

This is an ridiculous joke.I didn't update SmarterMail for a long time and i never heard people complaining, that a plugin stopped working, while SmarterMail isn't up-to-date.
