Samsung Mail Client Issues

FYI: we've had reports that there are issues with the latest release of the Samsung email client (6.0.01.11) sending messages when using EAS. I recently got a Samsung S10+ and verified a few things:

1. Using autodiscover works perfectly: it found my SmarterTools account and set it up with no issues as an EAS account.
2. Shared calendars synced just fine.
3. Syncing between the phone, webmail and other clients is fast and has zero issues.
3. However, when trying to send an email, it just sits in the Outbox.

Samsung is aware of this issue, and they're working on a fix. The BETA version of their email app apparently has a fix, but the patched version isn't available yet. A customer who reported this issue sent us a reply they received from Samsung Electronics Email Team that confirmed they are aware of the issue and that it is in the process of being resolved.

Their immediate solution is to downgrade to the previous release or contact them for access to the BETA of the new client. If you want to try the BETA, send your Google account info to them at b2b.sec@samsung.com. (And it goes without saying: your participation in their BETA is in no way endorsed, supported or otherwise authorized by SmarterTools, and participation is at your own risk.) We also verified that downgrading DOES work for sending email when using an EAS account, so that's our recommendation.

I can confirm this issue and Samsung indeed knows of it. Somehow I have been able to uninstall the .11 version of the app and install a newer one, .63. This version has fixed the issue and EAS accounts are able to send mail.

I do not know how I installed the new .63 version of Samsung Mail as I`ve tried uninstalling and re-installing this app multiple times, including I`ve reset my phone and each time I always got the point 11 version. There are others that say that they still cannot install the .63 app - one time I just forced close the app, deleted cache, uninstalled it and re-installed it and voila, .63 with the fix was there.

Thanks, Ionel. I also installed the trial of Nine, another Android email app that uses EAS and could sync and send email just fine. So it's definitely a Samsung client issue...

Yes, I too started by thinking that there was something wrong with our SM server, but that was not the case. Gmail and Outlook apps worked fine with SM over EAS. Also, there are too many people complaining of this in Google Play at the App review section and in a dedicated support thread: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Smartphones-Tablets-Wearables/Samsung-Email-Version-6-0-01-11-Issues/td-p/924634

So this is definitely Samsung`s fault.

I was lucky enough to be able to install v 6.0.00.63 of Samsung Mail, which works fine, but most cannot get it.

Just to close this thread out: Samsung released an update this morning for the default mail client. I updated and was able to successfully send messages again. So if you're using a Samsung device, be sure to check your updates as needed.

Yes, version 6.0.02.11 of the Samsung Email app seems to fix the original issue.
