Automatically disable SMTP on an account which sends x amount of mail within x timeframe

Hi guys. I have a feature request if I may?

We would like to see SmarterMail automatically disable SMTP functionality on an account which sends x amount of mail within x time frame. IpSwitch's Imail server has a feature like called HAMR and it comes in very handy. I realize that Throttling is handy too, however, we would like to see the SMTP automatically disabled so messages do not overwhelm the SM spool. Thank you for your consideration.

Hello Linda, we do have a feature like this called "Internal Spammer".  It's located in the Security section for system admins -> IDS Rules.  You can specify how many messages they can send in a certain time before blocking them for a specified amount of minutes.

Thanks Larry. I'm very familiar with Internal Spammer. As far as I know it does not actually disable the SMTP functionality. Am I incorrect?

I've added my vote to this as we find ourselves disabling clients who ignore our smtp limitations on shared hosting environments.

Lets hope the ST team considers this

Hello Linda, you are correct.  I just checked our code and the internal spammer rule does not block at the SMTP level, just from webmail (API).  This feels like a bug to me so I'm going to add it to our working queue so we can get this in a future release.  Thanks!
