Contact in Outlook (Sharepoint)
Problem reported by Ng Cher Choon - 9/22/2018 at 6:13 AM

We are using Smartermail 16 and our customer is using Outlook 2016.

Our customer is using EAS for their connection to their accounts. Everything works as accordingly except Contact.

So, we try on one of the customer's accounts using the "Add to Outlook" option found in the webmail for the Outlook contact.

We did that and we did see the Global Address List appearing in Outlook 2016. However, we faced some problems:

1. We made some changes to the Global Address List in the Smartermail as a domain admin but it did not sync with the Outlook
2. So, we deleted the Smartermail Global Address List in the contact within the Outlook.
3. Then we try to add it by "Add to Outlook" option again.
4. A new contact list called "Smartermail - My Contact" was added but the list was empty.

How do we get back the Global Address List inside the Outlook with the "Add to Outlook" option?

Hi everyone,

Outlook does not pull data from SmarterMail when connected with SharePoint. You must use the Send/Receive option within Outlook to get updates from the server. That said, in Outlook's Send/Receive Groups settings, I found: "Schedule an automatic send/receive every X minutes" and "Perform an automatic send/receive when exiting." With both of those enabled, I find that GAL entries are updated around every 15-30 minutes or so and each time I reopen Outlook.

Regarding the issue with using the Add to Outlook option again, I'm afraid I can't replicate this problem. I'd recommend upgrading to the latest version and reviewing this issue with the Support Department if it persists.
