Where are the KB images stored
Question asked by Glen Harvy - 7/10/2018 at 4:45 PM
Answered
Hi,

I upgraded my present v 7.x to 14.x and the images were included in the v14 kb articles fine.

I now need to move the site to another server and have done so successfully EXCEPT the images in the kb articles no longer appear in the newly hosted site.

I thought the images were now stored in the database. Is this the case?

Any suggestions...

All attachments in SmarterTrack are stored in the "%SMARTERTRACK%/MRS/App_Data/Attachments" directory.

The KB images appear to be stored in the shared hosting environment at App_Data/UserResources. At least that's where I found them in the old server system.

In previous versions of SmarterTrack, that is where those files were stored. A process was added in v14 to move those files to the App_Data/Attachments directory. If they are still in App_Data/UserResources, then it is likely that process has not yet been run for some reason.

I am confused (so whats new, right?)

In previous versions.. there was  a way to have the KB images stored somewhere else; other than the App_Date folder.
Is that no longer the case??  I thought that there was XML file that you could change, so that the KB images were stored in a separate folder / drive et al.

What "process" are you talking about? Images are all working for me so if the process hasn't been run what else should be wrong?

The process is a task that runs during the upgrade process. This task moves the files from the old location to the new location.

This should still be working. The only difference is what directories need to be accounted for. KB Attachments are now in a new location so you will have to account for that when making the xml file. There is a chance that this is already done since this location is used for attachments in other areas as well.
