Remote Spamassassin on Smartermail v16

Smartermail v16 does not give me any indication that I am connected to a remote spamassassin server. It accepts any random IP address just like the real IP address of the server. No feedback to say I am connected or not. Older versions showed when the connection was active. Is there a way to know when the connection is active on v16?
