Can't click 'Null Sender' box for SMTP Blocking
Problem reported by kevind - 1/3/2018 at 10:22 AM
Resolved
  1. Log in as Admin on SM15.x
  2. Go to Security -> Antispam Administration
  3. Null Sender -- can't click the checkbox under 'Enable for Incoming SMTP Blocking'
Would like to be able to check this box to stop spam like this:
Return-Path: <>
Received: from tweak.seven-earn.com (tweak.seven-earn.com [78.46.66.222]) by mail.example.com with SMTP;

Hi Kevin.  I'm seeing this too.  I'll get this over to the developers.

Thanks, Rod!

Just saw some spam this morning that would have gotten blocked with this check. If the developers have a custom build, we'd be glad to test it for you before you release it. Thanks!

So excited for this fix! Just went through 7000+ spam messages on server from the last 48 hours and 6000+ had null sender!  Here's a sample:

I'm sure many others will benefit from this also. Just having an extra 10 points for null sender will score the message high enough to get blocked during SMTP, saving tons of resources on the server.  In this case, the server would process 3000 fewer messages/day.

Hello,

    I've implemented this feature request in SmarterMail 16 and will be seen in the next minor build. It was not originally intended for this filter to scan SMTP and thus we disabled the checkbox, hence the inability to check the box. Since this is a feature request I've implemented it directly in SmarterMail 16, this change is not lightly made as it required some moderate backend changes.
