is any way to save the bandwidth usage about IMAP connection ?

Hi,
 
i create a mailbox and set it on outlook with imap connection,
 
i find it take many bandwidth usage,
 
i so not understand how it compare and download/upload well.
 
i want to ask if any way to save the bandwidth usage ?
