Unable to install SmaterMail 16

I have uninstalled SmarterMail 15, stopped the site and application pool.  I have started the installation for SmarterMail 16 and it keeps failing with this error:
"A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\Users\..\AppData\Roaming\SmarterTools\SmarterMail13.3.6522.28885\install\disk1.cab has an invalid signature.  This may indicate that the cabinet is corrupt."
 
Then the installation rolls back.  This is on a Server 2012R2 system without internet access.

Hi Jason,

Sounds like there are some dirty files from a previously installed SmarterMail. I would try and install SmarterMail13, then uninstall, manually deleting trash that gets left behind in AppData and then try a install of v16.

Jason, did you reboot after uninstalling 15x? I know it's not in SmarterTools install instructions, but I have seen errors like this and others if a reboot doesn't happen after an uninstall and before an upgrade. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Thanks I was watching the AppData\Roaming\SmarterTools folder and the installer seems to clean up after itself. There wasn't anything in the folder after subsequent install attempts.

Thank you for the reply. I did get a notification in the Windows Server Manager window that the server was pending a reboot but I don't know if that was post uninstall or post install. I will try to reboot after removing 15.x next time. I need to wait to take the server offline again.

I think that will resolve your issue. I have always made it a point to reboot after the uninstall. I have seen the SM installer fail because of locked files after an uninstall. Please let us know if a reboot resolves it. If not, I can help further. Thanks!

I was finally able to try this again over the weekend. I removed 15.x, rebooted and then attempted to install the latest version. I received the same error message and had to revert back to 15.x. I'll probably open a ticket.
