Upgrade from Version 12.x to latest version 13

Hello

I installed SmarterTrack by using the "Manual Installer" (zip-file) ages ago. Updates worked also out very well by simply replacing the files.

I never made an upgrade to a new major version. Is it still good to go by replacing the files only?

Thanks!

SmarterTools recommends that when upgrading major versions, you uninstall the previous version and install new one. No data is lost during this process.

Here is the answer:

Every Folder can be replaced easy. I deleted all folders and unzipped the folders from the new zip-file.
Exception: The Folder App_Data. This folder contains data. This folder and its subfolder needs more attention to avoid loss of data.
I synchronized the folders manually, which takes about 10 minutes.

At the end, the website needs a restart and after this everything is fine. You also will see a short updaitng message, while SmarterTrack updatess its database.

I struggled to find the upgrade instructions for the latest version and so I completed the replace as discussed above but I just overwrote my App_Data folder because although the folder contains existing data and config, the installation version does not contain any files which would replace your own. I suggest double checking that each folder in the install zip just contains an AboutThisFolder.txt file and nothing else then just go ahead and copy it all over.
