Missing Features in SmarterMail 16
Problem reported by Iacovos Zachariades - 9/11/2017 at 11:16 AM
Submitted
We are a hosting provider that has over 300 domains and 3000+ users and after updating to SmarterMail 16, we received some reports of issues from our clients:
  • Undo Button was removed from Message Composition edit options
  • Spell Check was removed from Message Composition edit options
  • Cannot edit e-mail signature text from inside Message Composition window
  • Cannot add content below e-mail signature inside Message Composition window
  • Items Related to the Contact was removed (confirmed this was intentional with Support, but still inconvenient)
I am sure there will be more things to add to the list as they are discovered, but I just want to know if these quality of life features will be coming back. Some of our clients are seeing this as a step back, not forward.

Hello Iacovos,

  • Ctrl-z works in the editor.
  • We are relying on the browser for spell check as it will do a better job than the spell check in the editor.
  • The email signature div has contenteditable="false" on it. If you do the code view in the editor you can remove this and change it.
  • Related to above.

is the  "The email signature div has contenteditable="false" on it. If you do the code view in the editor you can remove this and change it."    something that the Admin is suppose to be able to change for all users ( am guessing once it is set, then each user has to do it.. but for new users??) .....    Would be difficult to train some users on how do to that.

It looks like any user can change the div using the Code View when composing the e-mail after adding the signature, but it also looks like it has to be changed every time a new message is created.

I could see the value in having the ability to toggle what that "div" does during the edit/creation of a signature. Allowing you to lock or unlock the div for your users. If you make a post as a feature request, with just that feature extracted from this thread and suggested, I'll upvote it and try to get that in for you, barring our schedule. However I don't see this as a hard thing to do at all, quite easy.

Well "hard" and remembering how to do it (when you old man like me.... ) too different things <GRIN> ,,, more of a support issue...
But in the wide, wide world of things to consider.. probably not the highest :) Thanks
