Log Settings Missing - SmarterMail 16.2.6442
Problem reported by Bruce - 9/3/2017 at 11:24 PM

According to the help file below log settings should under 'General Settings and Log Settings' but they are not there and I can not find the settings anywhere else;

Are they missing or hidden away somewhere else?

Log Settings can be found under Troubleshooting at the bottom of the navigation tree when in the Manage section.

Thanks, I would not have thought to look there.

SmarterTools need to update their SmarterMail 16 help files which say it is at 'General Settings -> Log Settings'.

OK found the Log settings now, but also looks like I have found a bug.

The following log files ignore the 'Log Path' settings which I have set to 'S:\Logs\' and places these new log files in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SmarterTools\SmarterMail\MRS\App_Data\Logs'

bosh-xmpp.log
Ews.log
SignalRLog

Could SmarterTools fix this bug and have these logs placed in the location given for 'Log Files'?

I ended up with 36GB of logs in this incorrect folder on C drive within 14 days which almost completely filled the C drives capacity.

Not sure if this is now possible, but there should be a way to set the logs so that they - or the log flies folder - don't exceed a certain size (to be set by the email administrator), with older entries automatically deleted. This kind of behavior exists in Windows, for example.

Written a batch file to run each night using the task scheduler to delete the contents of the folder until SmarterTools get this bug fixed and the logs written to the correct folder.
