v16 and antispam
Problem reported by Samuel Morgan - 8/17/2017 at 12:56 PM

Just upgraded to v16 and find that some of the anti spam functions have broken.

1. RDNS check not working properly - After upgrade started getting lots of email from one of my mail servers landing in spam, looking at the spam headers it shows Reverse DNS as a failed check which cant be right as the server IP has RDNS.
2. So I added the IP of this server to the IP Bypass to stop the checks and still emails from the server are being spam checked and landing in my spam folder.

1. We have this issue all the time. SM states that there is no PTR, but there is or is says there is PTR, but there is not.
2. IP Bypass is only used to ignore X IP and check the next one in the message hop. IE if you have emails coming in from a gateway and you want to check the actual sender, not the gateway.

You would whitelist the IP under security => whitelist for SMTP. Then under antispam, enable disable spam filtering on SMTP whitelisted IP addresses.

Yeah thanks Christopher, that makes sense.

It would be nice if you could specify which of the whitelisted IPs bypass the spam checks though, I have some IPs whitelisted for SMTP auth because they are basically email from web servers we host which we force to use our mail server but would prefer to spam check any outgoing email so that we can get notified if a site starts sending spam but with a single setting for bypass spam checks for all whitelisted ips this isn't going to be possible.

Correct, I've been begging for this feature too. We have some that are SMTP whitelisted just so we do not get them IDS blocked, but I still want spam processing done on them. This blanket setting kinda stinks.
