This is probably a JR SmarterMail 101 question, but I just haven't been in this territory before:
We have a client that is getting 50 -80 sync errors per day (according to them, on their outlook)
'--------------
He  continually get these errors when outlook tries to sync with our email server.  Sometimes I get emails and sometimes I have to login directly to the server through the web.  "

This has been repeatedly discussed in these forms, so I'm only going to say this once, and not argue with you, or anyone else. Install on a 64 bit server operating system, and make, certain all .NET 4.5 updatea and patches, even the, elective .NET 4.5,patches are enabled. Update your security registry to block all DNS - now depreciated, and no longer allowed, and ENABLE TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 - per my instructions at https://portal.chicagonettech.com. Everything you'll need is there. Disabled the SmarterMail web server, and install Microsoft IIS, preferably with an SSL certificate. There are a lmited number of ports on standard OSs, and both IIS, POP, SMTP, and IMAP keep multiple ports open, for long periods of time.
