Missing auth type "plain" and "login"

Hello SmarterMail community and support,

we're evaluating a proxy solution with NGINX in the front- and SmarterMail in the backend. We have some issues to fight with and while debugging this we noticed something unusual in SmarterMail. Like you can see in the telnet session, it is not possible to choose the auth type "login" and "plain":

* OK IMAP4-Server
10 capability
* CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 AUTH=CRAM-MD5 UIDPLUS XLIST IDLE STARTTLS
10 OK CAPABILITY completed
20 authenticate plain
20 NO Selected auth method not supported
30 authenticate login
30 NO Selected auth method not supported

My questions are: Is SmarterMail not providing the auth type "plain" and "login"? Is it possible to enable it somewhere in the settings?

Kind Regards,

Viktor

Thanks for your reply! We'll try it. May I ask you to post your dovecot configuration, if you have it in use?
