cannot retrieve emails from gmx.net

Hi,
I have a rather strange problem with my smartermail installation. It's a small private installation with only 4 accounts. The system was running without problems for almost months. One of the accounts retrieves mails from 4 different mail providers (including gmx.net). Everything is fine with this account.
Another account retrieves mails from only 1 gmx.net account. Since a couple of days this retrieval is failing completely. In the popretrieval.log I can find a message saying:

19:40:55 [xxx@yyyyy.de] [pop.gmx.net:xxx@gmx.net] Exception: Von der Übertragungsverbindung können keine Daten gelesen werden: Eine bestehende Verbindung wurde softwaregesteuert
durch den Hostcomputer abgebrochen.

   bei System.Net.FixedSizeReader.ReadPacket(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count)

   bei RelayServer.Clients.POP.POP3Client.#2G(UInt32 #Eob)
19:40:55 Finished processing for xxx@yyyyy.de

Smartermail is running on Windows Server 2012R2 with all updates installed. I am running smartermail 15.0.5949.
Any Ideas are welcome.

Best regards,
Stefan

Bruce,

thanks for your answer. But why is one gmx.net account working and the other not? Both were working until 4 or 5 days ago.
gmx uses port 995 for pop3 retrieval.

Doesn't anybody know details about the error message, please?

Probably stating the obvious here, but have you tried retrieving those same emails with a desktop or mobile client at the same domain and port 995, just to make sure the "mechanism" is OK at that end?

Thanks Paul
Yes I tried that. Retrieval from an iphone works without problem. That's my temporary workaround.

Google Translate gives me this:

"Exception: From the transmission connection, data can not be read: An existing connection was controlled by software canceled by the host computer."

Some kind of authentication/protocol change at the gmx.net end, perhaps? Not very helpful, I know.

Update:
Problem is fixed with latest windows update...

Stefan: Great catch on that fix. May I inquire as to the version of SmarterMail you are using? May I also ask what operating system you are running on the server. Thanks - Bruce
