Greylisting per domain
Question asked by Lenny Estrin - 3/8/2016 at 9:23 AM

Is it possible to use greylisting for one domain only?
If so, how? Which Smartermail version/edition is required for this.

Hey Lenny,

Enabling greylisting is done at a system level; however, you can override the setting for domains and users. Log in as the System Admin, click on the Security icon, then Greylisting. Here is more info on what it does and what each of the settings are for: Greylisting

Once enabled at the system level, you can disable greylisting for all domains but the one you would like. To do this, you simply edit the domain and click on the Technical tab > Disable greylisting. In the system security settings, you can also allow users on that domain to override greylisting, if desired.

I hope this helps!

As a second thought, if new domains should have greylisting disabled by default, I'd recommend that you update the Domain Defaults settings at Settings > Defaults > Domain Defaults.

It you are using smatermail as a incoming gateway you have a list of domains  (System>Routing>Incoming Gateway> Domains). Most of the domains like the reduction in Spam with greylisting. However there is always a few who don't want it and we have a separate gatway for them. Is there a way to selectively disable greylisting when smartermail is used as a gateway? Freeing up a server and a IP would be a good thing.

Hey Matthew,

To the best of my knowledge that functionality is not currently available. Please consider creating a new thread as a Proposed Idea to request this. That way we can track its progress and allow other uses to offer their input on its implementation as well.

Thank you!

Did the feature get posted somewhere? Can I vote for it?

We really need this! So many of our clients are complaining about Greylisting that we have had to disable it for all domains despite how effective it has been.
