SM not showing proper Message Traffic in Reports

I am trying to get a count or a monthly average of the number of total email messages that passes through our server. When i am in "System Trend Reports > Traffic Reports > Message Traffic"
It lets me pick year to date and then group by month, but the data shown is completely in accurate. 
 
We set up Smarter Mail on this new server at the end of June. So no data exists before June. But, It shows 3 months without any email traffic (Aug, Sept, Oct) , and November with just over 4,000 total messages. I personally sent out 20,000+ emails in November for an event we did. that does not count the other 26 domains and roughly 200 email accounts on the server. 
Anyone else have this problem ?
 
Is there a way to reindex that info ?
 
If i go to "System SUMMARY reports > Traffic Reports > Message Traffic" It shows accurate numbers, but they are grouped by domain (instead of for the whole server) and there is no way to group them to get monthly counts.

Unfortunately if that data doesn't exist there is no way to get it back.

Why would it not exist ? How,, Where, When does it gather the data ?

It is constantly gathering that data. But if there is nothing printed out that means it maybe lost that data or it was never gathered.

Ahhhh.. Ok, I think i just answered my own question as to why it doesn't exist.
 
In Late November, Thanksgiving day, we had to do a server restore. Restored from a backup copy that was from Early July.
Even though...  we did NOT loose any email data, our email data is stored on a separate drive that was not impacted. So we just grabbed a backup of the server OS drive and re attached the isolated data drive. Server was back up and working in 10 minutes. 
I had assumed that SM would take the data and re-index the data to generate the reports, or generates the reports on the fly.  Now i see that it does not
 
This is also why i was asking in this post :
If there is a way to make Smarter Mail data :"Self Contained" for this exact reason.
