Update ClamAV?
Question asked by Joe Burkhead - 12/8/2015 at 8:25 AM
Answered
As of this morning I am getting the following message from SecuriteInfo...

You are downloading SecuriteInfo.com additionnal signatures for Clamav, and we
thank you !

Unfortunately, the version of Clamav you are using is too old (0.97.6). The
last version of Clamav is 0.99.0. We recommand to use version 0.98.x at least.
Only up-to-date Clamav can catch recent virus threads.
Could you please upgrade your Clamav antivirus ?

How do we go about updating the ClamAV contained within SmarterMail?

Thanks.

If you are running SmarterMail 14 on a 64bit system you are running ClamAV Version 0.98.6.0.

However it seems we still use the old 32bit freshclam.exe for the updating of the databases. I will fix this. I will post back once I have this fix in place along with a potential custom build.

This has been fixed. I sent you a custom build link via your profile page on the community. Let me know if this works out for you.

Matt,
So far, so good with the custom build. However, an installation bug is back. Several versions back, during the installation the installer wants to install the C++ redistributable even though it is already installed. It tries, then fails. After clicking to continue the installation anyway, SmarterMail then successfully installs.
This behavior was common for several versions after making the redistributable mandatory. However, a few versions back you evidently fixed it because it stopped doing that. For some reason that behavior returned in this custom build.
