Show Free/Busy in Outlook Calendar
Question asked by Mark Martens - 11/30/2015 at 10:09 AM
Unanswered
Is there a way to configure Outlook to show availability for other users when creating a meeting?  This is a standard Exchange feature, but I cannot seem to find it when using SmarterMail.  I am able to see it in the web interface.

I have tried both IMAP and POP (which seems to me to be the problem, but am not certain).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind Regards,

Mark

I posted this in late November...and did receive some feedback once I activated a trial for the Exchange module. It seems that motivates the team a little more. The bad news is they were not able to get this fully working.

1) The SmarterMail team asserts (though I could not verify) that you can get this functionality with the Exchange module (forget which one at the moment) in Outlook.
2) After 2 months of trying (and two separate trial periods (had to really work hard to "trick" the system into treating each as the only trial...since it is not possible to extend a trial period, I was told that there is a caveat...it does not work with Office 2016.
3) This was the final product of a lot of waiting and bugging of SmarterMail throughout the trial. It seems that there were other more important things.

REQUEST:
1) Can SmarterTools please take some time to perform some documented testing as to why this no longer works with latest version of Outlook.
2) Can SmarterTools please definitively state whether they intend to resolve the issue? and, if so, when? I need to make decisions regarding whether I stay with this platform or if I move to something else.

I would posit that it is important that SmarterTools makes every effort to remain relevant for the large segment of the market that does use desktop applications or they may drive us into the arms of MS.

My 2 cents.

I was doing some of my own research as it has been hinted that the MAPI protocol is at the root of this issue.

SmarterTools: Would anything in this thread provide value to the discussion?
