Embedded images are blocked when received by email
Question asked by Daniel Berman - 11/25/2015 at 5:15 AM

Hi All,

In the conversation tab of tickets I see from time to time the folkowing erreur :
"The user attempted to send a file through email with an extension that is not allowed"

After investigation, I found that this is caused by embedded images in emails

Any idea on how to solve this issue?

Thank you,
Daniel

Hello,
This is based on what kind of attachments you allow. Go to Settings -> Security -> Uploads and ensure you have the file type allowed for end users to be able to upload.
Hope this helps,
Ashley

Hi,

Thank you for the advice, but as it is an embedded image it has the folowing format : <img src="cid:_1_0D6DCC6C0D6DC86C003BF19DC1257F08">. I have allowed all kind of known images I can think of in the allow list without success.

Is this working for you ?

Regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
I tested this on the lastest version of 11x and do not see the error message. Ensure your on the lastest version and if you are still having issues, you will need to contact support so that we can look into this issue further. As this may be unique to your install or configuration.
Thank you,
Ashley

Hello Daniel,
Recently we did find a bug with this where if the attachment did not have a name the extension would be lost, resulting in the message. This should be fixed in the next minor of smartertrack 11x and in any future versions to come.
Thank you!
