Automatic conversion from RTF to HTML?
Problem reported by Eric Tykwinski - 9/3/2015 at 6:03 AM
Submitted
I've got 2 people on SmarterMail Version 14.1.5675 emailing each other.  In the Sent Items folder of the sender, the message shows as RTF format with the attached winmail.dat file.  Embedded in winmail.dat is a PDF test.  In the receiving mailbox, the message is displayed as HTML format without the attachment.  My guess is that SmarterMail is translating the RTF to HTML and dropping the attachment, but it's sort of hard to track that down in the logs.  Anyone see this before?

Example:
Sending end
------=_NextPart_000_0009_01D0E62B.8BD070E0
Content-Type: application/ms-tnef;
    name="winmail.dat"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment;
    filename="winmail.dat"

Receiving end
------=_NextPart_000_0001_01D0E62B.8AE351C0
Content-Type: text/html;
        charset="us-ascii"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

I guess I'm the only one seeing this?
Some more info from the headers:
Both domain1.com and domain2.com are on our server, so I can see both of those emails.... It seems like webmail can decrypt TNEF, so I'm at a loss why it's changing through delivery.

You said you have a winmail.dat with a PDF test in it, is it possible for you to share this? That way I or others can attempt to replicate this?
If I have a winmail.dat I can drop it in a test and see what it does and look deeper into what is happening.

I sent an email to support... It's got both emails from RAW view in webmail.

I would send it to sales@smartertools.com, I believe emails sent to support bounce unless it's bound to a ticket.
