Hit ENTER after each Tag to add it to your post; Numbers in parentheses represent the Tag's usage.
When your mail server slows down or starts acting up, you sign in as System Admin and typically click Manage (wrench) to look at logs, current connections, services, etc.
However, the Manage menu defaults to Spool -> All Messages which tries to display all messages in the spool. If there's a spammer, compromised account, or other mail delivery issue, the spool will have thousands of messages in it. So SM will sit there and spin for 5 minutes or so before timing out or eventually showing the messages. This is wasted time and prevents the Admin from doing anything else.
- Default to an item that doesn't require processing (e.g. View Logs).
- When you reach 1000 messages or 30 seconds, just display those instead of trying to read them all.
- Maybe there's some sort of indexing that could be done on the server to make it faster...
Let me know if I'm missing something obvious. Thanks,
