Are Categories Not Available for Emails in Outlook 2013 and Exchange ActiveSync?

We're currently using the latest version of Smarter Mail Enterprise (14.0.5661) and noticed that whenever we try to apply a category to an email in Outlook 2013 the category is removed within a few seconds.
 
Does Exchange ActiveSync NOT support applying categories to emails?

Albert, currently SmarterMail does not support categories on email messages, which explains the reason that the category is being removed from the message in Outlook after the next sync.  I will change this thread from a question to an idea and add it to our features request list for further discussion by the development team.

Thanks for the response Robert. Categories were/are used extensively to help us stay organized and keep track of emails and projects. We really hope this feature is added in the next upgrade.

I was disappointed to find out this isn't supported as it was one of the features we hoped to gain from EAS, which didn't seem available in IMAP. I hope it will be included in a near future update.

We were as well. We hope that this is a feature that the development team has included in one of the two major releases this year (Q1 & Q2).

Has this made the development teams list yet? This is a feature many of our clients are really interested in.

Actually, I upgraded to the latest 15.x version and just tried applying a category to a message and it seemed to have worked. Anyone else confirm?

Nevermind, spoke too soon. The categories I applied just disappeared.

We had a user that after the migration to SmarterMail could swear he has working color categories, although all users were complaining of the missing feature - but his Outlook (via EAS) was just slow to update the emails.

This is not really a mission critical feature, but it would be very helpful to have it - however, as I can see on this thread, the status is just "Under consideration" for some time. I cannot imagine what an ETA (if) would be.

Maybe a SmarterMail employee can update?
